Released in 2015 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
The Battle of Waterloo took place on June 18, 1815 and marked the final defeat of French military leader and emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, who had conquered much of Europe in the early 18th century. The reverse of this £5 coin captures a victorious moment between the Duke of Wellington for Britain and General Blücher for Prussia whose relationship was crucial to the defeat of the French.
