2025 marks the 200th anniversary of the first passenger steam train. The first journey took place on 27 September 1825, on the Stockton and Darlington Railway in northeast England. Driven by engineer George Stephenson.
A new 50 pence coin was released in Gibraltar to commemorate the bicentenary anniversary.
The obverse of this coin features the Gibraltar Coat of Arms accompanied by the inscription Charles III – King of Gibraltar, the denomination and year 2025.
These coins have been taken from a sealed bag.
