A commemorative crown released by the Royal Mint in 1981 to celebrate the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer.
Despite being produced in their millions and being available at face value from most post offices and banks, the ordinary business strike was a Royal Mint commemorative issue and not intended for general circulation. The coin was also issued in an individual pack struck to the same quality, known as circulating standard, and was also released as part of a 12-coin set from The Royal Mint called Royal Wedding Crowns.
Obverse: Queen Elizabeth II (Arnold Machin portrait)
Reverse: Conjoined profile portraits of the Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer left, legend around, date below.
