2015 Longest Reigning Monarch £5
On September 9th 2015 Her Majesty The Queen became the United Kingdom’s longest reigning monarch, surpassing the record previously held by her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria.
This coin was released in 2015 to celebrate the achivement. The obverse has a rare alternative effigy that did not feature on circulating coins.
Queen Elizabeth II reigned for a total of 70 years from 1952 until her death in 2022.
Whilst this coin states 'one crown' on the obverse this is merely a design feature. The coin is a £5 coin (as stated on the reverse). The commemorative £5 coin replaced the Crown in 1990.
