2017 Gibraltar Referendum £1 Coin
 
This coin circulated in Gibraltar only. This coin featured in the 2017 coins of the year which commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Gibraltar referendum.
 
The referendum was held in 1967 to determine whether Gibraltar should remain a British overseas territory or form part of Spain. The Gibraltar residents voted with an overwhelming majority to remain part of the UK.
