Commemorating 50 years since the first Concorde flight in 1976.
On 21 January 1976, Concorde entered the history books with its first commercial flight. Sleek and tailless, it could fly at over twice the speed of sound - and became a symbol of innovation, ambition and the future of travel.
The aircraft was retired in 2003 after a decline in popularity.
This 50p coin has been produced in partnership with Airbus and British Airways.
Not to be confused with the 2019 Guernsey Concorde 50p collection or the 2026 Jersey Concorde 50p coin.
*This coin has not been released into general circulation*
Obverse: Martin Jennings (King Charles Portrait)
Reverse: depicting the iconic supersonic aircraft in flight with “Concorde” displayed in a split-flap departure board style (designed by Osborne Ross)
